HALLOWELL — Abbey Gifford, 10, has started a story and craft time geared toward 4- to 7-year-olds to meet at 10:30 a.m. the second Saturday of each month at Hubbard Free Library, 115 Second St.

Abbey reads stories, ties in a craft activity and provides a snack, according to a news release from the library.

Abbey recently was recognized for this initiative by the Maine Red Claws High 5 Scholarship Program during a Red Claws game. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship, courtesy of NextGen, according to the release.
