One of the sad things about Maine, as we all know, is the lack of attention our state gets on the national scene. Unlike such places as Charleston or Waco or Newtown, Maine does not figure much in the nightly news.
But a remedy has been proposed by M.D. Harmon and other recent writers to the newspaper. If we could only loosen up the gun laws and make weapons more easily available and allow concealed arms in schools and churches and bars, as they suggest, then we too could enjoy the publicity lavished on states that are friendlier to guns.
The laws that prohibit criminals from owning guns would remain in place, but not to worry — it’s not criminals who go in for mass murder, it’s the kid next door. So come on, folks, get the guns out there, and put Maine up there with Colorado.
