A Matter of Balance classes begin July 28
Spectrum Generations Muskie Center’s A Matter of Balance — Managing Concerns about Falls program will begin July 28. The eight two-hour classes will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 28 through Aug. 20, at the Muskie Center. The free program is designed to reduce fear of falling, stop the fear of falling cycle and improve activity levels among community-dwelling older adults, according to a news release from the center. Participants 60 and older can learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, to set realistic goals for increasing activity; to change their environment to reduce fall risk factors; to promote exercise to increase strength and balance.
Classes will be taught by Carmen Bedard and Doris Mathias. Class size is limited; to register, call Jennifer Fortin at 620-1657.
