There is still time for artists to register for the Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association and the Maine Art Gallery’s summer plein air event. Registration is due Thursday, July 16. Registration form can be found at sheepscot.org/sheepscot-plein-air-event/. Artists are invited to explore the Sheepscot watershed and create art in the week-long plein air event, Monday, July 20, through Saturday, July 25. During that time, artists will be given access to beautiful riverfront properties not otherwise open to the public. At the end of the week, artists bring their work to the Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren St., Wiscasset, for a two-week show, beginning Thursday, July 30. Artists are asked to donate a percentage of their sales to support both the Maine Art Gallery and Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association helping these non-profits celebrate art and nature and protect our beautiful local landscapes.
The plein air event is part of the association’s year-long focus on art and nature. There will be a breakfast kickoff at the SVCA headquarters on Monday, July 20, and the artists are invited to display their works-in-progress at the annual association member barbecue on Thursday, July 23. The finished work is to be delivered to the Maine Art Gallery in Wiscasset on Saturday, July 25.
Interested artists can visitsheepscot.org for more information and a registration form. There is an entry fee of $50 also due by Thursday, July 16. For more information, call 586-5616 or email kristin@sheepscot.org.
