Festival opens for ship tours, music and great local food.
9:30 a.m.: 30-minute dockside interpretation of visiting vessels for individuals with special needs. Local deaf interpreters will translate the discussion for one select vessel. Go to www.tallshipsportland.com for details.
10 a.m.: Gates open to the Festival – public boarding of visiting Tall Ships at Maine State Pier, Port Ocean Terminal, Maine Wharf and Ocean Gateway along Commercial Street.
Festivities at Compass Park on Maine State Pier include children’s activities, arts, crafts, exhibits, lectures and Portland cuisine and lobster!

For Kids and Guppies! Face painting, balloon artist and coloring
12 p.m. – 6 p.m.: Maritime Education Tent Schedule – a variety of subjects from celestial navigation, weather, how to sail on a Tall Ship, conversations with visiting ship captains, marine photography and video, maritime career and educational opportunities and more. Day and Evening Sails on board local tall ship schooners Bagheera, Frances and Wendemeen.
8 p.m.: The City of Portland is hosting an Organ Performance at Merrill Auditorium. The Magnificent Kotzschmar organ will play alongside the historic film, “Old Ironsides.” Cost per person: $15.00. Tickets are available at www.tallshipsportland.com.
