3:15 p.m., a crash involved an Augusta police cruiser and another vehicle at the intersection of Route 3 and West River Road. Deputy Chief Jared Mills said Officer Benjamin Murtiff was responding to a report of a person experiencing a mental health problem. Murtiff, who had activated his cruiser’s lights and sirens, entered the intersection and was struck by a vehicle on Route 3. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported. State police are investigating the crash, which is Augusta’s standard procedure for a crash involving one of its cruisers.

ARRESTS
AUGUSTA
Tuesday at 8:49 p.m., Zachary Ryan Magee, 24, of Augusta, was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence by police responding to a traffic complaint on Mount Vernon Avenue.
11:03 p.m., Joseph Anthony Oliveira, 26, of Augusta, was arrested on charges of operating after suspension and violating conditions of release by police responding to a traffic complaint on Orchard Street.
