BOSTON — Purdue University senior Matt McClintock, of Athens, returned to the course for the first time this season and recorded a second-place finish at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday afternoon.

The Madison Area Memorial High School graduate clocked a time of 23:52.6 to finish 1.6 seconds behind the winner, Justyn Knight of Syracuse University. McClintock’s time was within 15 seconds of his career best with the Boilermakers men’s cross country team in the 8,000 meters.
