Voters in Jackman-based School Administrative District 12 narrowly approved a $2.22 million school budget on Tuesday, the fourth time the budget has gone to referendum this year.
The budget was approved by an overall vote of 128-124. It did not pass in Jackman, the district’s largest community, where it was rejected 115-93.
The budget passed by a margin of 35-9 in Moose River.
Tuesday’s vote was the fourth time residents in the Jackman-based school district were asked to approve a 2015-2016 school budget. The budget passed four times in district school budget meetings but was rejected in three earlier referendums.
The $2,227,150 budget approved Tuesday is 3.69 percent, or about $79,000, more than last school year’s $2,147,797 budget. It is down more than $100,000 from a $2.3 million figure proposed earlier this year.
