Doughnut lovers in Portland have been wondering if the Urban Sugar Donut food truck is ever going to return to the city. The tiny, irresistible snacks made in a 1977 truck named “Miss Rosie” were inexplicably absent from city streets this summer.

Don’t worry, the “Ol’ Blue Eyes” – doughnuts made with lavender pastry cream, lemon curd and Nilla crumble – are on their way back.

Owner Kevin Sandes on Tuesday announced a new Kickstarter campaign to raise $25,000 so that he can open a brick-and-mortar shop on Sugarloaf Mountain, where the doughnut truck has been spending winters, and buy a new fryer and a facelift for Miss Rosie. The dooughnut machine alone costs $10,000.

The just-launched fundraising campaign has raised $202 so far and has 29 days to go.
