After not being back to his hometown since 1979 (when his father passed away), Robert E. Black, retired Air Force master sergeant came back to visit with his wife, Italia, from Italy at the age of 86.
During this visit, he visited the library and found his Hallowell High School yearbook, class of 1947, reminisced about classmates and sports he played.
As we drove my grandfather through Hallowell, he told us about how he used to ice skate and play ice hockey on the Kennebec River and how he used to go fishing with his father.
This trip was very important to my grandfather because he hadn’t seen family members since 1979, and he was able to visit many people. My grandparents were accompanied by their daughter and husband, granddaughter and great-granddaughter and great-grandson.
