WILTON — A Weld woman suffered injuries after her vehicle went off the road on U.S. Route 2 Sunday night, and police believe an underlying medical condition was a factor in the single-vehicle accident.

Carol Frederick, 76, was driving east on Route 2 around 5:21 p.m. when the 2011 GMC truck she was operating went off the road and into a ditch, Wilton Police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Frederick was injured in the accident and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, then taken by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where she was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon.

Wilcox said road conditions were not a factor, but said an underlying medical condition may have been the cause of Frederick going off the road.

Frederick was driving alone, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
