FARMINGTON — A man who was accused in November of failing to report an accident has been charged with operating under the influence after toxicology reports concluded his blood-alcohol content was above the legal limit the night of the accident.
Wesley Adams, 25, of Strong, was issued a summons Sunday for operating under the influence on the night of Nov. 23, when the Subaru he was driving went off Knowlton Corner Road, Farmington police secretary Bonnie Pomeroy said.
After Farmington police Sgt. Edward Hastings IV found Adams at a Chesterville residence after he left the scene of the accident on Nov. 23, Adams submitted to a blood test, police said. On Dec. 10, Hastings received the toxicology reports from the Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory, which concluded that Adam’s blood-alcohol content at the time of the crash was above the legal limit, Pomeroy said.
When Hastings arrived at the scene of the accident, he found the vehicle but no driver, Pomeroy said. After realizing the car belonged to Adams and making calls to some family members, Pomeroy said, Hastings found him at the Chesterville residence.
Adams said he didn’t have much recollection of the accident, but that he had walked from the scene to his friend’s Chesterville house, police said.
Adams, the only person involved in the accident, was not injured and was summoned that night for failing to report an accident by the quickest means necessary.
Adams is scheduled to appear in court to answer both charges on Jan. 26 in Farmington.
