I ask our legislators to take the governor’s misuse of power seriously and instigate impeachment proceedings.
Since Gov. Paul LePage’s election, an alarming number of state workers from a variety of departments and positions have described threats to their funding and staffing. This pattern of abuse is rampant and has no place in Maine politics.
Rep. Deb Sanderson, R-Chelsea, was on the news recently saying, “Politics is dirty, it is absolutely dirty.” Well, I do not believe we should accept that.
The governor’s threats to Good Will-Hinckley were completely out of the realm of reasonable governance. If Speaker Mark Eves, D-North Berwick, can lose his job because of this governor, no one in the state is safe — not even Sanderson.
The people of Maine must not accept this style of politics as normal. Our Legislature has a responsibility to uphold the ethics and laws of our state. I urge the people of Maine to contact their representatives and let them know we expect them to do their job and hold the governor accountable.
