AUGUSTA — An Augusta couple who had been living in a Washington Street apartment where the body of a local man, allegedly murdered by a New York man, was found in November of last year was arrested Friday night on warrants.
Zina Marie Fritze, 27, of Augusta, and Michael Sean McQuade, 45, also of Augusta, were both arrested on Washington Street on one warrant each by Augusta Police just before 9:30 p.m. Friday.
The warrants for both were for alleged violations of bail conditions, according to Kennebec County jail records. Both were still at the jail Saturday, where they were being held without bail.
Jail officials said records indicated Fritze was out on bail on charges of theft, receiving stolen property and misuse of identification before the warrant arrest.
McQuade was out on bail on several burglary from a motor vehicle charges and several theft charges.
The couple lived in the Washington Street apartment where Joseph Marceau, 31, a resident of Winthrop Street in Augusta, was found dead Nov. 23, 2015.
Damik Davis, 25, of Queens, New York, was arrested and charged with the murder of Marceau that day.
Immediately following the discovery of Marceau’s body and Davis being charged, police sought Fritze and McQuade, saying they wanted them for questioning and to check on their well-being. They were located two days later and taken to the Augusta Police Department and later released, according to a news release from Maine State Police.
Further details about their arrests were not available from police Saturday.
