A Bowdoin man has announced that he is running for the Maine Senate in District 23, which consists of Sagadahoc County and Dresden.
Guy Lebida, a Republican, is owner and manager of the Bowdoin Pines Manufactured Housing Community in Bowdoin, according to a news release. If elected, he would focus on welfare reform, reducing energy costs and lowering taxes and the state budget, he said in the release.
Lebida has been a first lieutenant in the Army National Guard as a combat engineer, is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and is an executive board member of the Sagadahoc County Republicans.
Lebida will face a June 14 primary against incumbent Republican Sen. Linda Baker, of Topsham. The winner will face Democrat Eloise Vitelli, of Arrowsic, in November.
