AUGUSTA — Freshman Alexis Couverette hit a game-tying, three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning and had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cony High School softball game a 12-11 win over Mt. Ararat in nine innings Friday.

The Rams (2-0) trailed 11-8 in the bottom of the seventh when Couverette clubbed the first offering she saw from Mt. Ararat’s Alana Weaver to force extra innings. The freshman — who finished a triple short of the cycle — then finished what she started with a double in the bottom of the ninth to plate Autumn Sudsbury from second base.

Delaney Keithley went 4 for 5 with four doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored in the win, while Sudsbury added two singles, one double and three RBIs. Sydney Cheever chipped in with two singles and a double.

Laura Scone and Zoe Stelphin each had two singles and a double for Mt. Ararat (0-2), while Kayleigh Temple, Katelyn Cox and Kate Guerin each finished with one single and one double.

MARANACOOK 19, WATERVILLE 1: Erin Bonenfant had a home run and two singles to spark the Black Bears to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win in Waterville.

Paige Costa, Taylor Rioux and Katherine Snow each had three singles for Maranacook (1-1) while Justine Merrill added a triple and a single.

Rebecca Oakes doubled for Waterville (0-2) while Shelby Place, Brooklyn LeClair and Molly Wasilewski each had a single.

MESSALONSKEE 12, CAMDEN HILLS 0, 5 innings: Kirsten Pelletier pitched a two-hitter and Sarah Labbe had three doubles, an RBI and two runs scored to spark the Eagles to the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Madisyn Charest and Kelsey Dillon each had two singles for Messalonskee (2-0).

Camden Hills falls to 0-2.

MORSE 8, ERSKINE 6: The Shipbuilders took advantage of seven Eagles’ errors to score six unearned runs and pick up a KVAC B win in South China.

Hope Faulkingham went 3 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored for Morse, while Marissa Parks picked up the win in the circle in a complete-game effort.

Mallory Chamberlain, Amber Grady and Lydia Boucher each had hits for Erskine (0-1).

BASEBALL

MT. ARARAT 6, CONY 0: The Eagles scored all six runs in the first inning to earn the KVAC A win in Augusta.

Nate Leslie had an RBI single for Mt. Ararat (1-1).

Zach Charest, Justin Rodrigue, Anthony Brunelle, Jake Dacus and Cam Dunlop each singled for Cony (0-2).

MORSE 5, ERSKINE 0: Keegan McDonough had a double and a single to spark the Shipbuilders to the KVAC B win.

Jacob Cressey earned the win on the mound for Morse (1-0).

Cody Taylor led Erskine (0-1) with a double and a single. Errors hurt the Eagles, who made seven in the game.

MESSALONSKEE 3, CAMDEN HILLS 1: James Lathrop drove in a pair of runs to help the Eagles earn the KVAC A win in Oakland.

Sam Bell also drove in a run for Messalonskee (2-0) with a sacrifice fly. Tyler Noonan got the win, allowing four hits and no earned runs in five innings.

Dalton Oakes took the loss for the Windjammers (1-1).

MONMOUTH 7, DIRIGO 1: Nick Sanborn and Hunter Richardson combined to limit the Cougars to just one hit in a Mountain Valley Conference game played in Monmouth.

Richardson also got it done at the plate, smacking a pair of doubles and adding an RBI for Monmouth (1-0). Nick Dovinski and Gage Cote added a single and double apiece in the win.

Gavin Arsenault had a double for Dirigo (0-1).

HALL-DALE 5, OAK HILL 4: Ryan Sinclair pitched a four-hitter, striking out 12 and walking three to lift the Bulldogs to the MVC win in Farmingdale. Dean Jackman and Quinn Stebbins each had two singles for Hall-Dale (1-0).

Kaleb Morrisette had two singles and an RBI for Oak Hill (0-1).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

TUFTS 7, COLBY 6, 10 innings: Harry Brown’s single to right-center scored Nick Falkson in the bottom of the 10th to lift the Jumbos to a win in Medford, Massachusetts at Huskins Field.

Brown finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Tufts (19-4, 6-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference) while Tommy O’Hara, Harrison Frickman and Dan Kelly each chipped in with two hits.

Matt Garcia was 2 for 4 with two runs scored for Colby (10-16, 3-4 NESCAC), while Tyler Starks had a pair of hits and an RBI. Tommy Forese, who was 2 for 6 at the plate, took the loss in relief.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

COLBY 3, TRINITY 1: Julia Saul fired a complete-game, allowing just four hits and one run while walking two and striking out three in a win in Hartford, Connecticut.

Colby (12-13, 3-4 NESCAC) took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning on a two-run triple from Emily Schatz.

Trinity (15-10, 3-4 NESCAC) got its lone run on a homer from Nicole Towner in the bottom of the fourth.
