The Maine Marine Patrol has earned accreditation from the national marine law enforcement administrators organization.

The patrol became the 13th organization in the country to comply with the national standard of readiness for law enforcement and emergency response boat crews set by National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, which is recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard as setting the national standard.

Accreditation hinges on good marks in the following areas, include training, documentation, safety and first aid, use of police equipment, operation of the inflatable patrol boats, and knowledge of knots, terminology and crew tasks.

ā€œI’m extremely proud of our officers, sergeants and lieutenants,ā€ said Col. John Cornish.
