READFIELD — Chris Florek pitched a three-hitter and finished with two singles to help his own cause to lead the Maranacook baseball team past Gardiner 10-3 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win Monday afternoon. Vinnie Birtwell added two singles for Maranacook (8-5) while Connor Ireland and Dan Garand each doubled.
Hunter Chasse had a double for Gardiner (9-5).
ERSKINE 4, LINCOLN 3: Luke Peabody had an RBI single to bring home the tying run and he later scored on an error for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Eagles prevailed in a KVAC B game in South China.
Zack Glidden allowed one run in three innings of relief of Dylan Presby to earn the victory for Erskine (11-3).
Hunter Williams homered for Lincoln (5-10).
WINTHROP 15, MT. ABRAM 2, 5 innings: The Ramblers scored 13 runs over the first three innings on the way to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Winthrop.
Greg Faye had three hits for Winthrop (5-8), while Jacob Hickey had a pair of hits. Spencer Steele homered for the Ramblers. Bennett Brooks struck out three for the win.
Mt. Abram dropped to 0-13.
HALL-DALE 10, OAK HILL 1: Alec Byron had three singles and drove in three runs and Josh Cowing had three RBIs as the Bulldogs rolled to the MVC victory in Wales. Cowing and winning pitcher Ryan Sinclair each had a pair of hits as well. Quinn Stebbins had a double for Hall-Dale (10-4).
Oak Hill dropped to 4-10.
SOFTBALL
MONMOUTH 8, DIRIGO 2: Hannah Anderson and Mikayla Cameron each drove in two runs with doubles to lead Monmouth in an MVC game played in Dixfield.
Tia Day added two hits and an RBI for the Mustangs (7-7). Emily Chasse scattered five hits and didn’t allow an earned run to pick up the victory in the circle. Alex Varnum had a double for the Cougars (6-8).
LINCOLN 6, ERSKINE 4: Kortney McKenna had two singles to spark Lincoln (7-8) to the KVAC B win in South China.
Mallory Chamberlain had three singles for Erskine (8-6) while Harley Denning had two singles.
WINTHROP 14, MT. ABRAM 5: Kayleigh Oberg had two triples and a double to lead the Ramblers to the MVC win in Winthrop.
Shie Smith had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for Winthrop (4-9). Amber Raymond, Tess Moody and Olivia Simonson all enjoyed two-hit afternoons for the Ramblers.
Laura Ross had a double and a single for Mt. Abram (3-10).
GIRLS LACROSSE
MORSE 13, CONY 5: Isabelle Paulus and Maddy Olson each scored four goals to lead the Shipbuilders in Augusta.
Zenaide McCarthy made seven saves for Morse (9-0).
Lexi Roy, Lauren Coniff, Sarah Caron, Bethany Lund and Cate Silva each scored for Cony (5-5). Lizzy Dennison stopped nine shots.
BOYS LACROSSE
GARDINER 15, ST. DOMINIC 2: Sloan Berthiaume scored six goals and added an assist as the Tigers rolled in Gardiner. Logan Clark and Connor Manter each scored two goals for Gardiner (4-6).
St. Dom’s dropped to 0-9.
