Whether you’re a foodie, a sports fan, a traveler or a Donald Trump supporter, there’s something for you at the annual auction to benefit Wayne Community Church, beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday with a two-hour live auction and celebration.
The event will also include a silent auction that begins Thursday and continues on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The presumptive Republican candidate for president, Donald Trump, has signed two dollar bills for the auction. Also getting auctioned are items autographed by former NFL running back Emmitt Smith, current Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, pro golfer Vijay Singh, actress Pamela Anderson and many others.
The offerings will include travel packages to places like Virginia Beach, Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and Pidgeon Forge in Tennessee, as well as a number in Maine and around the Northeast. Gift certificates for many restaurants, theaters and other venues around Maine will also be available.

The auction is a major fundraiser for the Wayne church, having netted between $14,000 and $17,000 in past years, said two of the event’s organizers, Sue and Mike Faulkner. Proceeds will support senior lunches, a nursery that operates out of the church and services the church provides for families who are poor or in crisis, said the Faulkners, who are seasonal residents.
Though the church is technically Methodist, Mike said that it’s also a destination for many summer residents who are looking for a church regardless of their denomination.
The live auction on Thursday night will be hosted by Craig Miller, a former meteorologist at WGME-TV.
