AUGUSTA — Rep. Stanley Short Jr., D-Pittsfield, was honored June 18 by the American Legion as a Legislator of the Year at the American Legion’s 98th annual state convention at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, according to a news release from the Maine Legislature House of Democractic Office.

Short earned the award for supporting the four pillars of the American Legion: veteran’s affairs and rehabilitation; national security; Americanism; and children and youth.

“Our veterans deserve our deepest respect and gratitude,” said Short, according to the release. “I am proud that as a Legislature we came together to pass critical measures to support our servicemen and women.”

Short, a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, is serving his second term in the Maine House. He represents Clinton, Detroit and Pittsfield.
