WATERVILLE — City councilors on Tuesday will consider requests to rezone property on Ridge Road to allow for a church and property on Grove Street to allow for a business expansion.
The meeting will be at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at The Center downtown.
The council will take a final vote on whether to rezone 66 Ridge Road from Contract Zoned District/Residential-B to Residential-A. Resurrection Life Church needs the rezoning in order to operate there. The church had occupied the former Elks building on Appleton Street downtown before that building was purchased by Colby College as part of downtown revitalization efforts and torn down to create space for parking.
Councilors took a first vote Oct. 19 to approve the zoning change. Meanwhile, Maine State Credit Union requests that the council rezone 182 Silver St. and part of 170 Silver from Transitional to Commercial-A, as it wants to expand its drive-thru, parking lot and building at nearby 81 Grove St. The Planning Board voted recently to recommend the zoning changes.
In other matters Tuesday, the council will consider taking a second, final vote to accept a gift of a Sea-Doo for the fire department to be used for rescue purposes. The gift, valued at about $30,500, is being offered by Firehouse Subs.
Councilors also will consider selling a tax-acquired, vacant lot at 8 Broad St. for $1,500.
