WALDO — Police are investigating vandalism reports of burned mail and mailboxes in the towns of Waldo and nearby Monroe, according to a news release Monday from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The first report came from Back Brooks Road in Monroe on Friday at 9:20 a.m. The resident said his mailbox was vandalized and his mail burnt, police said.

A deputy from the sheriff’s office responded and saw the damaged and burnt mailbox. He also noticed a neighbor’s mailbox had been damaged as well.

Later that day a resident on Ed Nickerson Road in Waldo reported that their mailbox and mail had been burnt overnight. A deputy investigated the report and also found burnt mail from a resident who lives on Deer Run Drive.

Police asked anyone with information about the incidents to call the sheriff’s office at 338-2040.
