We have a citizen’s council here in Waterville already. It’s called the City Council, and they were democratically elected by the people. Nobody elected this so-called “Citizen’s Council” — they self-appointed themselves like little dictators. They are trying to force an authoritarian takeover in which their views — and only their views — are implemented. Compromise, or even working with anyone who happens to disagree with them, is a dirty word to them. They see disagreement with their views as a personal attack on their character. They fail to realize that talk is easy, governing is hard. They are not the arbiters of the values of this city.
