Part of Route 4 in Farmington was closed Tuesday night after a tractor-trailer slid off icy pavement and hit a house, a Franklin County dispatcher confirmed.
Farmington fire officials told WCSH-TV that the truck was carrying bottled water from the Poland Spring bottling plant in Kingfield and was heading toward Miami, Florida.
The television station said that the driver and a passenger – both men – were taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital. The driver suffered only cuts but the passenger was in critical condition, Farmington police Sgt. Michael Adcock told the Lewiston Sun Journal. Two people were in the home at the time, but were not injured.
The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Route 4 and Box Shop Hill Road.
