For the 29th consecutive year, motorsports enthusiasts from around New England will converge in Augusta for the annual Northeast Motorsports Expo.

The expo takes place Friday through Sunday at the Augusta Civic Center and features exhibits, vendors and seminars.

And race cars. Lots of race cars.

“I don’t even know how many. I count everything,” said Steve Perry, the show’s owner and promoter. “I know there’s enough. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth.”

Race tracks from across the state, including Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Oxford Plains Speedway, Unity Raceway and Wiscasset Speedway, are all expected to have exhibits, most of which include area drivers and teams. Both New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire, and Winterport Dragway are also lined up for the weekend for fans of straight-line racing.

The highlight of the weekend remains the Heluva Good! Pit Stop Challenge, in which participants assemble teams of five members to perform a simulated pit stop against the clock.

“It’s still going strong after all these years,” Perry said of the annual winter auto racing celebration, which has attracted between 3,000 and 4,000 attendees over the last couple of years, according to Perry.

Two seminars are advertised for the weekend, including one on social media and the effects it has on short track racing in the region. There will also be a seminar for spotters — essential members on a race team that help direct drivers through racing conditions via radio communication. The Maine Vintage Race Car Association will hold its fourth annual silent memorabilia auction to raise money for the MVRCA and the Maine Motorsports Hall of Fame. There will also be a live memorabilia auction on Saturday afternoon.

Doors open for the Northeast Motorsports Expo at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults.
