The town of Litchfield is accepting nominations for an open seat on the Select Board until 6 p.m. Feb. 16, according to a notice on the town website. Nomination papers for those interested in running for the position are available at the Town Office.
The seat is open after residents voted 167-50 in December to recall then-Selectman Tim Lachapelle, who accused various town officials of misconduct. The allegations were never proved, and voters removed Lachapelle from office after crafting a recall ordinance last fall.
A special election for the seat will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. March 7 at the Town Office, according to the website. The term will begin after the election results are certified and run until June 30, 2019.
