A bomb threat made against Gorham High School led administrators to order the school’s evacuation and the early dismissal of students on Tuesday, authorities said.

Gorham police Lt. Michael Nault said in a press release that canines from the Maine State Police searched the building and were unable to locate any suspicious devices or packages.

Based on the search by the police dogs, authorities determined that the building was safe for students and staff to return.

Students were evacuated to a nearby community center to await a 2 p.m. dismissal, but will be allowed to return to classes on Wednesday.

Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to contact the Gorham Police Department at 839-5581.
