Hallowell’s Arts and Cultural Committee invites local artists, art students, schools and groups to submit ideas for murals on the theme of “welcoming community.” The murals will act as a visual representation of Hallowell’s recent welcoming city resolution.
Each image in a planned series of four murals will be created by a different local artist or group. Chosen designers will be asked to reproduce the design on a provided four-foot by four-foot panel to be mounted on the side of a prominent building in downtown Hallowell this summer.
Up to three initial designs can be submitted as jpeg images of any size, as long as the ratios are square and can be enlarged.
Email designs to project coordinator August Rudy to hallowellarts@gmail.com by Friday, April 14.
Be sure to include the artist name(s) and contact information with the design. Entries will be reviewed by a jury made up of members of the Hallowell Arts and Cultural Committee and other community members.
The selected artists will be announced by May 1 and will have until the end of June to complete the finished panels.
