A man and a woman with bail conditions that prohibited them from having contact with each other were arrested Tuesday after leading police on a foot chase through Saco, police said Tuesday.
The chase began just before 5 p.m., when Saco police tried to stop their car for a traffic violation.
Police say Jamison Snyder, 45, of Saco and Nikki Greenaway, 21, of Old Orchard Beach jumped out of the stopped car and fled in the vicinity of 505 Main St.
Saco Deputy Police Chief Jack Clements said in a news release that Snyder ran through several business parking lots and fought with officers before he was subdued. He was charged with failure to submit to arrest and violation of conditions of release. Saco police were assisted by agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
A police dog unit from Scarborough was called in to assist with the search for Greenaway. Witnesses told police that Greenaway fled from her hiding place when the dog arrived. Officers apprehended her and charged her with violating her conditions of release.
Both suspects reported they had medical conditions and were taken by ambulance to local hospitals for evaluations. They were subsequently taken to the York County Jail, where they were being held Tuesday night, Clements said.
