A Massachusetts man convicted for his role in a home invasion in Wells was sentenced to more than seven years in prison during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Portland on Tuesday.
Chief Judge Nancy Torresen sentenced Juan Andino-Tirado, 25, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, to seven years and a month for robbery, and aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm in furtherance of a violent crime.
Andino-Tirado and four other men drove from Massachusetts to Wells in November 2015, planning to commit the home invasion, court records state. Andino-Tirado and Carlos Diaz and Javier Pagan Gonzalez broke into the home. Diaz and Gonzalez had guns and Andino-Tirado brandished a knife. Two other co-defendants, Anthony Arrendell Pena and Marcos Hernandez, stayed outside the home.
The four stole $2,389 in cash and 861 oxycodone pills, federal authorities said.
Diaz and Hernandez were sentenced to six years for their roles in the home invasion. Pena and Gonzalez have entered guilty pleas, but have not yet been sentenced.
