The Readfield Union Meeting House will host a Strawberry Festival from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the group.

Strawberry shortcake made with local strawberries and topped with real whipped cream will be served for $5, which includes iced tea, lemonade or water.

In conjunction with the shortcake sale, a pie sale will be going on at the same time. Whole pies, locally made, will be sold for $14 for as long as they last. Pie boxes will be provided. Strawberry jam and assorted gift baskets will be available for sale. Raffle tickets for a handmade quilt titled “Stained Glass,” made by board member Joan Wiebe, will be sold. The drawing for the quilt will take place at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 during the Readfield Heritage Days Celebration.

The Readfield Union Meeting House, located at 22 Church Road, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, will be open during the festival.

The Strawberry Festival is a rain-or-shine activity. If it rains, it will be held on the second floor of the Readfield Town Office, at 8 Old Kents Hill Road.
