NORRIDGEWOCK — A motorcyclist was injured seriously Friday when he didn’t stop at a red light and was struck by a car, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.
John Grace, 55, of Meredith, New Hampshire, was injured seriously after crashing a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle into a car Friday in Norridgewock.
John Grace, 55, of Meredith, New Hampshire, was heading east on U.S. Route 2 on a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the crash happened Friday afternoon, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. John Kennard, 73, of Madison, was driving his 2012 Nissan Sentra north on Perkins Street and was crossing the intersection to head north on Bridge Street.
Grace, who was not wearing a helmet, failed to stop at the red light at the intersection and was struck by Kennard’s car, the sheriff’s office said. Kennard and his passenger, Ruth Kennard, 74, of Madison, were both wearing their seat belts.
Grace was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan and then by Lifeflight of Maine helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment of a serious head injury. The Kennards were taken to Redington-Fairfiew for treatment of chest pain, as the air bags had deployed.
