BENTON — Voters have elected Douglas Dixon to a seven-month term on the Board of Selectmen.
Dixon was in a three-way race for the seat, which was made available when former member Dan Chamberlain resigned this summer. The spot only lasts until March, when residents will elect someone to a full term at the annual Town Meeting. The other two vying for the seat were Dwight Lanning and George Moody.
Dixon received 157 votes, compared to 26 for Lanning and 35 for Moody. Polls closed at 6 p.m., and all results, including absentee ballots, were in by 6:30 p.m.
Dixon could not be reached for comment Tuesday night after the results came in. He was unavailable last week for comment, as he was on vacation at the time.
Lanning, 70, previously served for nine years on the Board of Selectmen in the 1990s. He is retired now, but worked for years in computer programming and hardware repair.
Moody, 38, served in the military for a number of years, and is a clinical social worker.
