WATERVILLE — Awana youth ministries for children 2 years old through eighth grade 8 will be held from 6 to 7:45 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning Sept. 6 at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, 91 Marston Road. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m.
Awana is an international, non-denominational, nonprofit ministry committed to helping churches and parents raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ, said Patrick Simpson, of Oakland, leader of the ministry, according to a news release from the church.
The curriculum is age specific: Puggles is designed for children ages 2 and 3; Cubbies for children ages 3-5; Sparks is for children in grades K-2; Truth and Training is for children in grades 3-6; and Valley Youth is for grades 7-12.
Simpson is the commander of the age 2 through grade six program and Youth Pastor Josh Brooks is in charge of grades 7 through 12.
Simpson said that a typical evening begins with music, Bible lessons, games, activities, snacks, scripture memory, awards and recognitions. “All parents are invited to come to the last ten minutes of each week’s program when we recognize those youngsters who have earned awards and merit badges,” he said according to the release.
Special evenings will include “Glow Night,” holiday events, water fun and other special events. “Our goal is to create a fun and exciting learning environment in which kids learn God’s Word and develop a life-long spiritual journey,” Simpson said according, to the release.
Additionally, a Sunday evening Bible study is available for high schoolers from 6 to 7 p.m.
