Gutman joins staff of Franklin Health Surgery

Dr. Stacey Gutman has joined the medical staff of Franklin Health Surgery and Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Gutman recently completed a five-year surgical residency at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington. She also received her medical degree there, graduating with high distinction.

Besides general surgery, Gutman’s professional interests include advanced laparoscopic operations, hernia repairs, breast surgery, upper and lower endoscopy, and emergency surgery.

Franklin Health Surgery provides comprehensive evaluation and management of most conditions requiring general surgery, as well as advanced laparoscopic surgery, upper and lower GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and stereotactic needle breast biopsy.

The practice is on the second floor of the Franklin Health Medical Arts Center on the Franklin Memorial Hospital campus in Farmington.

New Dimensions credit union Augusta branch gets manager

Danielle Farmer has become the manager of New Dimensions Federal Credit Union’s Augusta branch.

Farmer started with New Dimensions in 2014 as a teller and later transitioned into the role as head teller and lending consultant. Farmer graduated from Skowhegan Area High School in 2007 and later continued her education at Kennebec Valley Community College, where she received her associate degree in business administration, focusing on business management and accounting, in 2010.

Dani is already well-versed in her new position, having worked closely with the previous branch manager, according to the credit union.

New Dimensions, which has offices in Augusta and Waterville, employs nearly 40 people.

Silsby elected to lead Maine Bankers Association

Andrew E. Silsby, president and CEO of Kennebec Savings Bank, was elected recently to lead the Maine Bankers Association as chairman, according to a news release from the association.

Also, Patricia Weigel, president and CEO of Norway Savings Bank, was elected as association vice chairwoman. The election was held at the association’s 124th annual meeting in Boothbay Harbor.

Silsby was appointed president and CEO of Kennebec Savings in 2014. He serves as a director on a number of local and regional boards, including the Travis Mills Foundation, the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Augusta Board of Trade and Augusta First. He is a past president of the Chamber, Lithgow Public Library, and Kennebec Valley United Way boards. He also is on the board of visitors of the University of Maine at Augusta.

Silsby received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Maine, in Orono, and he attended the American Community Bankers National School of Banking.

Rice appointed lead hospitalist at Franklin Memorial Hospital

Dr. David Rice has been appointed interim lead hospitalist of Franklin Memorial Hospital, according to Tim Churchill, Franklin Memorial Hospital’s interim chief executive officer.

Hospitalists take care of hospitalized patients from admission through discharge.

Rice already has been providing hospitalist coverage at Franklin Memorial mostly on weekends, in addition to providing patient care at his busy internal medicine practice, Franklin Health Intown Medicine, which will continue.

Rice is a board-certified internist with more than 20 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient settings. He has provided patient care in Farmington since 2007.
