BANGOR — Cody Pellerin scored a goal in overtime to give Kennebec a 3-2 season-opening win over John Bapst at Sawyer Arena on Saturday.
The goal was Pellerin’s second of the game and he also added an assist. Cooper Hart had the other goal off an assist from Logan Denis for Kennebec (1-0-0).
John Bapst is 0-1-0.
OLD TOWN 13, MESSALONSKEE 1: Jacob Dubay and Tyler McCennal each had a hat trick to spark the Coyotes to the win Alfond Arena in Orono.
Tanner Evans and Ben Allen-Rahill added two goals apiece for Old Town (1-0-0) while Trent Lick had a goal and two assists and Josh Wheeler had one goal.
Khole Parker and Nate Reid combined to make 14 saves.
Nick Fontaine scored off an assist from Sean Rodrigue for Messalonskee (0-1-0). Eli Michaud made 42 saves.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
KENTS HILL 39, ISLESBORO 36: Tiffany McGhie scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Huskies to the win in Kents Hill.
Jarni Hewins added six points for Kents Hill (2-0).
Kiesha Scott led Islesboro (0-1) with 12 points while Emily Lau chipped in 11.
MONMOUTH 43, OAK HILL 22: The Mustangs used a 13-3 run in the third quarter to pull away for the MVC win in Monmouth.
Abbey Allen had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Monmouth (1-0) while Tia Day added 14 points. Kaeti Butterfield hauled in 10 rebounds to go along with seven points.
Oak Hill (0-1) was led by Sadie Waterman with 11 points and Des Dumais with eight.
BOYS BASKETBALL
FOREST HILLS 87, VINALHAVEN 41: Parker Desjardins scored 25 points and Kenn Vito Cruz scored 20 to lift Forest Hills to its second win over Vinalhaven in as many days at Kennebec Valley Community College.
Desjardins hit a pair of 3-pointers one day after hitting seven and scoring 24 points. Vito Cruz hit four 3-pointers for the Tigers (2-0), while Brandon Gilboe added 14 points.
Keon Arey scored 15 points for Vinalhaven (0-2).
