WATERVILLE — Thomas College’s fourth annual Dirty Dog Mud Run will begin at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, April 15, at the college on West River Road.
The Dirty Dog Mud Run is a 5K, 14-obstacle course that loops through the woods and campus. Obstacles range from monkey bars, tire flips, mud crawl, bucket carry, 3-/4-/5-foot walls and trails, according to a news release from the college.
New courses this year include a water cannon, hay bale covert to crawl over and through, and a net crawl through the mud.
The event is family friendly and features a kids’ race, food trucks and a disc jockey.
Registration is open online. Registration will cost $30 before Feb. 1, or $45 afterwards, and is open to any and all community members.
All proceeds will support the college’s student recreation. In the past, the college has purchased exercise bikes, built an outdoor ice rink, and installed flooring in the fitness center.
“This mud run has grown from 300 participants to 700 last year. And, there is already a lot of interest again for the 2018 race,” said Assistant Dean of Student Engagement Jim Delorie, according to the release. “A big reason the event is so successful is because it is truly a race for everyone. Whether you’re looking to just have fun and get dirty, take it easy, or take it seriously and compete with high-caliber runners in the elite heat, the Thomas College Dirty Dog Mud Run is for you.”
