UNITY — A Unity man was arrested Monday evening after police discovered materials used to operate a methamphetamine laboratory in his home.
Thomas Heaberlin, 35, was arrested on a charge of unlawful operation of a methamphetamine laboratoty, a class B crime, state police spokesman Steve McCausland said in a statement.
The Mid-Coast District Task Force from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency had been watching Heaberlin when he returned to his Fisher Road home with ingredients to make meth. Agents and officers from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office searched the house and found a room that was sealed off from the rest of the home, which contained 10 one-pot labs that Heaberlin allegedly used to cook the meth.
Heaberlin was arrested without incident and taken to the county jail, where his bail was set at $100.
The Maine Department of Environmental Protection helped at the scene by removing and taking the toxic byproducts of methamphetamine production from the home.
It was the state’s fourth meth lab bust of 2018.
