WATERVILLE — Two area Colby College students were elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa this spring. Membership in the society is one of the highest academic honors an undergraduate student can achieve.

Jacob O. Hyatt, of Thomaston, is a senior majoring in English with a concentration in creative writing and is one of 49 students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Colby this year. A graduate of Oceanside High School — East, he is the son of Melanie Hyatt, of Thomaston, and Erik Hyatt of Farmingdale.

Danielle C. Palmer, of Topsham, is a senior majoring in history and is one of 49 students inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Colby this year. A graduate of Mount Ararat School, she is the daughter of Carmen Palmer, of Topsham, and Kelly Palmer, of Topsham.
