WATERVILLE — A pair of Waterville pitchers held rival Winslow to just three hits, and the Purple Panthers rolled to a 20-0 win over the Black Raiders in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B season opener for both teams Wednesday at Colby College.
Kai Rabideau, Kody Vallee, David Barre, Daniel Gaunce and Chase Wheeler each had two hits in the win for Waterville (1-0), which scored seven runs in the third inning and eight more times in the fourth to put the game away.
Tom Tibbetts, Andrew Bolduc and Cody Ivey had the only hits for Winslow (0-1).
OCEANSIDE 8, MARANACOOK 7: Michael Norton drove in the winning run to finish a three-run, seventh-inning rally and lift the Mariners to the KVAC B victory in Rockland.
Uriah Thongsophaphone set up Norton’s winning hit with a two-run double, allowing Oceanside to erase a 7-5 deficit going into the seventh. Matthew Waldron got the win for the Mariners (1-0).
Silas Mohlar had a double and two singles for the Black Bears (0-1), who had a 7-1 lead going into the bottom of the fourth. Wyatt Lambert had two singles and Dan Garand had one while picking up the loss for Maranacook.
