NORTH ANSON — Hanna Caprara homered and the Winthrop softball team scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to pull out a 4-3 victory over Carrabec in a Mountain Valley Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
Layne Audet earned the victory in the circle for the Ramblers (8-3), allowing six hits.
Makenzie Baker had a double and a triple for Carrabec (8-4).
MONMOUTH 14, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 1: Haylee Langlois homered and drove in three runs in the Mustangs’ MVC win in Rumford.
Emily Kaplan had three hits for Monmouth (6-4), while Emily Chasse, Mariah Herr, Abby Ferland and Deanna Bauer all added two hits.
Mountain Valley dropped to 0-11.
ERSKINE 4, LEAVITT 1: Kayla Hodgkins struck out six to earn the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B win in South China.
MaKenzie Strout doubled for Erskine (3-9). Lydia Boucher doubled and drove in a run for the Eagles.
Emily Swan took the loss for Leavitt (5-7) and had one of the Hornets four hits.
BASEBALL
LEAVITT 5, ERSKINE 1: Eli Lind and Darin Hewitt each doubled and had four and three hits, respectively, to back starter Bryan Hewitt and lift the Hornets (7-5) to the KVAC B victory in South China.
Brian Hewitt fanned nine in a complete game for Leavitt. He added a double in the victory.
Nick Barber had two singles for the Eagles (4-8).
MESSALONSKEE 12, CAMDEN HILLS 0, 5 INN.: The Eagles scored six runs in the second inning to pull away for the KVAC A win in Rockport.
Tyler Lewis went 4 for 4 for Messalonksee (6-6), while Dylan Cunningham, Percy Carey, and Jake Perry each had two hits. Tyler Noonan picked up the win.
Camden Hills dropped to 2-10.
GARDINER 13, MORSE 3, 5 INN.: Trailing 2-1 entering the fifth, the Tigers scored 12 runs to turn the KVAC B contest into a rout.
Logan Porter, Casey Bourque and Cam Bourassa had two singles apiece for Gardiner (9-2).
Parker Onorato had two doubles for Morse (5-7), while Isaiah Cogswell had two singles and Austin Magliozzi had a double.
WINTHROP 14, BOOTHBAY 4, 6 INN.: The Ramblers scored five runs in the second inning to take command of the MVC showdown in Boothbay, Winthrop’s fifth win in six games.
Colby Emery had a double and a single in the win, while Ryan Baird had two singles for the Ramblers (7-4). Jackson Ladd added a double.
Steve Reny doubled for the Seahawks (2-10).
GIRLS LACROSSE
EDWARD LITTLE 15, CONY 14: Sierra Green scored her third goal with 40 seconds remaining to break a tie and hand the Eddies the KVAC win in Augusta.
Faith Leathers-Pouliot tied the game for Cony (5-4) with a minute to play. Sarah Caron finished with six goals and an assist for the Rams, while Kami Lambert added a hat trick.
Piper Norcross scored five goals for Edward Little (3-4).
MORSE 16, GARDINER 4: Mikayla Gardner scored two goals, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers, who fell to the Shipbuilders in Bath.
Evelyn Hinkley and Madisyn Smith added goals for Gardiner (2-5).
Morse improved to 4-4.
