FARMINGTON — Regional School Unit 9 voters passed a $35.5 million budget Tuesday by a vote of 1,552-1,174.

The budget for 2018-19 is $1.91 million, or 5.68 percent, more than this fiscal year’s. The spending plan covers education for pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and adult education.

It also includes $461,403 for a kindergarten-through-fifth-grade alternative education program to be known as Pathway for All Learners. The program’s goal is to allow behaviorally challenged students to develop the skills to participate fully in general education classrooms.

The budget requires district taxpayers to raise $13.48 million, a $792,890 increase.

It took four tries last year to pass a budget. It finally passed in October.

Voters in five towns approved the budget, while five towns rejected it.
