SOUTH CHINA — Erskine Academy has announced the Top 10 seniors for its class of 2018. The students are listed by rank.

Caleb Tyler, son of Regan and Jason Tyler of Palermo, is valedictorian. Throughout his four years at Erskine, he has participated in National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, soccer and lacrosse, and he has completed a variety of community service projects. Tyler is a Maine Principals’ Association Award recipient, a Rensselaer Medal recipient, and has received high honor roll distinction every trimester with awards of excellence in the areas of algebra, integrated science, chemistry and U.S. history. Tyler plans to attend the University of Maine to study mechanical engineering.

Kayla Hubbard, daughter of Phil and Julie Hubbard of Palermo, is salutatorian. She is a member of National Honor Society and she has participated in Student Council, EA Leadership, the Friends of Rachel Club, Drama Club, soccer, tennis and numerous community service endeavors. She has earned high honor roll distinction every trimester. Hubbard has received awards of excellence in algebra, social studies, pre-calculus and physics. She received the Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award, Renaissance Recognition and Senior of the Trimester awards. Hubbard plans to attend Lancaster Bible College to major in elementary education.

Kassandra Nadeau, daughter of Christine and Andrew Nadeau of Vassalboro, is third in academic standing. She is a member of National Honor Society and has participated in Business Club, prom committee, cross country, indoor track and track and field, has completed a variety of community service projects and was selected to attend the New England Student Leadership Conference. Nadeau plans to attend the University of Maine to major in biology.

Luke Hodgkins, son of Lisa and Craig Hodgkins of Jefferson, is fourth in academic standing. He is a member of National Honor Society and he has participated in Student Council, EA Leadership, math team, Future Business Leaders of America, the Friends of Rachel Club, cross country, tennis, and served as a class officer for three years. He has received an award of excellence in English and he has received Renaissance Recognition and Senior of the Trimester awards. Hodgkins plans to attend the University of Maine to pursue studies in biology.

Maggie Anderson, daughter of Michelle Anderson, of China, and Frank Anderson, of Augusta, is fifth in academic standing. She is a member of National Honor Society and she has participated in the drama club, prom committee and TLC (Erskine’s community service group). She was a recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Award and she has received high honor roll distinction every trimester. Anderson plans to attend Gordon College with an undeclared major.

Megan Lemieux, daughter of Debbie and Richard Lemieux of Vassalboro, is sixth in academic standing. She is a member of National Honor Society and has participated in sTLC (Erskine’s community service organization), drama club, math team, and the Friends of Rachel Club. She has received the Society of Women Engineers award, she has earned high honor roll distinction every trimester with an award of excellence in English, and she has received a Renaissance Recognition award. Lemieux plans to attend Unity College to major in biology.

Emma Stone, daughter of Katrina Johnsen Smith, of Palermo, and Andrew Stone, of Hope, is seventh in academic standing. She is a member of National Honor Society and has participated in drama, the Friends of Rachel Club and tennis. Stone plans to major in business at Gordon College.

Gabriella Pizzo, daughter of Deanne and Greg Pizzo of China, is eighth in academic standing. She is a member of National Honor Society and has participated in the drama club, the Friends of Rachel Club and tennis. She has received high honor roll distinction every trimester and \ has received a Senior of the Trimester award. Pizzo plans to attend Sarah Lawrence College to major in theater.

Kaylee Porter, daughter of Deann and Shawn Porter of Palermo, is ninth in academic standing. She is a member of National Honor Society, she has participated in Student Council, EA Leadership, the Friends of Rachel Club, soccer, cross country, indoor track, track and field and has completed a variety of community service projects. She was the recipient of the Smith Book Award, she received the Most Valuable Member of Student Council award, and she has been a Renaissance Recognition award recipient. Porter plans to major in nutrition at the University of Maine.

Carleigh Ireland, daughter of Amy and Scott Ireland of Vassalboro, is 10th in academic standing. She has participated in math team and prom committee. She has received awards of excellence in health, English and French. Ireland plans to major in nursing at the University of Maine.
