Winthrop voters overwhelmingly approved the school budget during Tuesday’s election.
Residents voted 907 to 488 in favor of the budget, according to unofficial results.
The $11.8 million budget includes $100,000 in funding for two health workers at the high school and middle school, and a $30,000 increase in funding for the Winthrop-Monmouth adult education program, which has been in danger of closing.
The budget is up by 6 percent over the current year’s budget.
It includes $35,000 in negotiated severance payments for Superintendent Gary Rosenthal, who is resigning at the end of the month amid complaints that he’s created a hostile work environment.
The budget is expected to require $229,000 more from taxpayers.
