CLINTON — Voters on Tuesday approved the proposed $2.6 million town budget by paper ballot in Tuesday’s election.
Town Clerk Melody Fitzpatrick said Clinton does not have an open-forum Town Meeting like many of the surrounding smaller towns, but instead votes by paper ballot on the budget. She said the approved budget has increased roughly $66,000 over the previous budget, an increase of 2.61 percent.
All 42 warrant items were approved.
Voters also approved the $26.5 million school budget for School Administrative District 49, 401-206. Voters in the other SAD 49 towns — Albion, Benton and Fairfield — also approved the budget, which passed in all four towns 1,687-802.
Fitzpatrick said incumbent Selectmen Brian Bickford and Ronnie Irving were re-elected. Bickford defeated Richard Larck, 426-91, for a two-year seat; and Irving defeated Randy Clark, 276-247, for a three-year term.
