NEW SHARON — A local man is accused of threatening his landlords with a knife outside a residence on Bean’s Corner Road after he was served with eviction paperwork.
Franklin County deputies responded at about 12:54 p.m. to a report of a landlord-tenant dispute.
Darryl Nelson, 42, of New Sharon, was arrested on a felony charge of criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, according to Chief Deputy Steven Lowell.
Initial reports had indicated a man was actively engaging the landlords with a knife, according to Lowell’s release.
The landlords left the address when the weapon was displayed and met with deputies down the road.
The tenant, Nelson, was refusing to vacate the property after being served initial eviction paperwork, Lowell wrote.
“The disagreement between all parties never reached the point of physical altercation,” according to Lowell’s release.
Nelson was released on $500 cash bail from the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington later Wednesday. A condition of his release is that he have no contact with the victims.
He is scheduled to appear Aug. 28 in a Farmington court.
Deputies Keith Madore, Brad Scovil, Lowell and Lt. David Rackliffe responded.
A conviction on criminal threatening charge carries a maximum five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
