Franklin County Retired Educators president Debbie Smith recently presented a Certificate of Honorary Membership for commitment and service to Doris Tripp, of Jay.

Tripp received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maine in Farmington and her master’s degree from the University of Southern Maine. After starting at the primary level in Strong, she taught fourth grade in Wilton at Wilton Central, Cushing and Academy Hill schools. She retired in 1996 after 27 years.

FCRE members Jean Mitchell and Arline Amos, whose two sons had Tripp as a teacher; Tripp’s son Brent and daughter-in-law Annette Tripp, Smith and Tripp all enjoyed a fun-filled visit recalling the days when they were all part of the school scene.
