OAKLAND — Messalonskee used a 25-point fourth quarter to defeat Brunswick 56-51 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A boys basketball action Saturday.
Matthew Parent led the offense with 22 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles (7-6) while Tucker Charles added 21 points and four assists.
Brunswick (7-7) was led by Noah Cox with 20 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
HALL-DALE 51, MADISON 42: Freshman Iris Ireland had 25 points and 15 rebounds as Hall-Dale earned the Mountain Valley Conference win in Farmingdale.
Hall-Dale (9-5) outscored Madison 21-9 in the second quarter to take the lead. Freshman K.K. Wills added 12 points and five assists while Grace Begin chipped in five points and eight rebounds.
Madison (5-9) was led by Katie Worthen with 20 points.
OAK HILL 53, TELSTAR 29: Desirae Dumais drained four 3-pointers and scored 17 points in Oak Hill’s 53-29 girls’ basketball win over Telstar on Saturday.
Dumais finished with 17 points, which tied Telstar’s Luci Rothwell for game-high honors.
Abby Nadeau had 14 points and Anna Beach 12 for the Raiders (13-1).
Aneah Bartlett scored eight points for the Rebels (3-12), who cut Oak Hill’s early lead down to 10 points a few times before the Raiders pulled away.
MONMOUTH 40, CARRABEC 25: Julia Johnson scored 11 points and Monmouth took advantage at the free throw line to defeat Carrabec5, in MVC action.
The Mustangs (12-4) made more free throws (17) than field goals (10), reaching the charity stripe 30 times while shooting 57 percent. Kaeti Butterfield scored all nine of her points from the line on 14 attempts. Abby Ferland added seven points.
Cheyenne scored 14 points to lead all scorers for the Cobras (4-11).
BRUNSWICK 66, MESSALONSKEE 37:Marley Groat scored 13 of her 23 points in the first quarter, Charlotte MacMillan had 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, and the Dragons (14-1) rolled past the Eagles (6-7) in Brunswick.
MacMillan recorded 12 points in the third quarter as Brunswick stretched a 32-21 halftime lead to a 51-32 advantage.
Rosalie White added 10 points for Brunswick.
Gabrielle Wener scored 10 points for Messalonskee.
