SKOWHEGAN — Sydney Reed had two hits and drove in three runs as the Skowhegan softball team remained unbeaten with a 7-0 win over Bangor in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Wednesday afternoon.
Jaycie Christopher had two hits and also drove in a run for Skowhegan (3-0). Sydney Ames tossed a two-hitter in the circle with four strikeouts to earn the win.
Jenna Smith had the lone hits — a double and a triple — for the Rams (2-2).
MESSALONSKEE 7, EDWARD LITTLE 6: Brooke Martin hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the sixth inning, sparking the Eagles to a KVAC A victory over the Red Eddies in Auburn.
The Eagles trailed 4-1 after three and 5-3 after four, but took a 6-5 lead on Martin’s shot. Taylor Bernier tripled for Messalonskee (3-1), while Danielle Hall (who picked up the win in the circle) and Leah Smith had two hits apiece.
Madison Emmert doubled for Edward Little (2-2), while Anna LeBlanc, Alexis Downs and McKenzi Horton had two hits each.
MT. BLUE 13, WATERVILLE 3: The Cougars scored five times in the first inning and four times in the sixth to bookend the KVAC win over the Purple Panthers on Tuesday.
Angela Guppy, Macey Phillips and Madisyn Smith each hit home runs in the win for Mt. Blue (2-0). Phillips and Smith each collected a pair of hits in the 11-hit barrage for the Cougars.
Molly Wasilewski homered for Waterville (0-3).
BASEBALL
EDWARD LITTLE 5, MESSALONSKEE 2: Ben Cassidy went five innings, striking out five, and collected a pair of hits at the plate to lead the Red Eddies to the KVAC A win in Auburn.
Chase Martin had a RBI and a run scored in the game for Edward Little (3-0).
Jacob Benttinen had a double in the fifth for Messalonskee (1-2).
WATERVILLE 15, MT. BLUE 2: The Purple Panthers pounded out 15 hits to take the win Tuesday at Kents Hill.
David Barre drove in three runs for Waterville (3-0). Cam Denis and Derek Davis each drove in a pair of runs for the Panthers. Kody Vallee earned the win.
Colin Hutchins doubled for Mt. Blue (0-3).
MT. ABRAM 17, WISCASSET 1: Michael Hooper and Trevor Phelps had two hits apiece to lead the Roadrunners to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Strong.
Hunter Warren tripled and Kenyon Pillsbury had a double for Mt. Abram (2-0), which broke the game open with five runs in the second and third innings and six in the fourth.
Matt Eckertt had two hits, including a double, for the Wolverines (0-2).
GIRLS LACROSSE
BRUNSWICK 10, CONY 5: Emily Cloutier scored four goals as the Dragons doubled up the Rams in a KVAC game Tuesday at Thomas College.
Amanda Cloutier added a pair of goals for Brunswick (1-0).
Sierra Clark and Kami Lambert each scored twice for Cony (1-1). Sarah Cook-Wheeler made 12 saves in goal.
BOYS LACROSSE
ERSKINE 16, CONY 6: Michael Nicholas scored four goals and and Gavin Blanchard had three to lead the Eagles. Blanchard also had nine ground balls.
Hunter Rushing, Myles Nored and Ethan Furlong each scored twice for Erskine (1-1).
GARDINER 14, MESSALONSKEE 5: Cody Rizzo scored six goals to lead the Tigers to the KVAC B victory in Gardiner.
Sean Michaud added four goals for Gardiner (1-1), while Tanner Hebert scored two and Garrett Hinkley and Jakeb Weston had one apiece. Cam Kokernak made six saves.
Cam Goff had two goals for the Eagles (1-2), while Cooper Doucette, Josh Languet and Luke Buck added one each. Wade Carter made 16 saves.
