AUGUSTA — Maine Veterans’ Home in Augusta is working with training and workforce development partners from Augusta Adult & Community Education and Western Maine Community Action to offer a Certified Nursing Assistant program, according to a news release from Western Maine Community Action in Lewiston.

Anyone interested in a new career path in healthcare is invited to attend an open house from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 11, at the facility at 310 Cony Road in Augusta. Tours of the facility will be provided.

Attendees can visit with staff and schedule an interview to be considered for the upcoming CNA training scheduled to start in June. Representatives from WMCA will share eligibility guidelines for candidates to apply for the training at no cost.

Interviews with interested candidates will be scheduled at MVH the week of May 13. Assessment appointments during the week of May 20 can be scheduled by calling AACE at 626-2470.

Upon completion of assessments, candidates will be scheduled for intake sessions at AACE and one-on-one interviews with WMCA staff.

The fast-paced CNA curriculum will be held of the campus at MVH consists of 180 hours required for certification.Candidates must meet an eligibility criteria with background checks and availability for all scheduled training.
